Where Nature, Tradition, and Science Come Together
From snow-capped mountains to gentle rolling hills and flowering valleys, Armenia houses a breathtaking natural world. Seven of the twelve climate zones are represented here, and on average the country receives seven hours of direct sunlight per day. This spectrum of climates nurtures an incredible biodiversity, including over 1200 plant species which have potent medicinal properties, and are ideal for producing the highest quality essential oils.
Throughout the centuries Armenia has cultured a profound tradition of herbalism. Ancient knowledge of the plant-world has been passed down from one generation to the next, and many communities, especially in the rural regions of Armenia, still harvest a variety of wild plants to use for both food and medicinal purposes. This incredible relationship with the natural world is part of what inspired us to establish Nairian in this small corner of the Caucasus.
While the natural world of Armenia is abundant and its traditional herbalism prolific, the country is also a historical hub for the advanced natural sciences. During the Soviet era, Armenia was one of the most celebrated chemical research centers of the USSR. Still today, Armenia takes great pride in its five major universities and numerous research labs. One of Nairian’s goals is to harness this scientific tradition, and incorporate the vast brain-power of Armenia into our own research processes.
When purchasing a Nairian product, you are acquiring something that was made using the highest quality ingredients, grown in a diverse and clean environment. Moreover, you are investing in a culture that celebrates both the ancient traditions of Armenian herbalism, and the cutting-edge of research in chemistry, cosmetology, physics, biology, horticulture, and aromatherapy.
